Watchmaker's Universe

Watchmaker’s Universe, Born in Time, 2009

Inspired by a gift and the elaborately illustrated Harmonia Macrocosmica, by 17th Century German
born cartographer Andreas Cellarius, the jewelled universe of tiny watch parts rotates under the
magnification of 12 glass mounted lenses offering viewers a glimpse into the universe of time.



Construction Information
(18 x 11.25 x 3.5")

Interior:
White acrylic painted balsa wood base, 1/4”
painted maple disc, more than 600 varnished
Watch Parts.
Collage Interior prints are varnished ink jet
photoshop images under colored lenses.

Exterior:
3/4” Oak box stained and varnished
with 3/4” Oak frame and glass secured by
ten screws. Twelve - 25cm diameter lenses
mounted on front glass.
Rear Mounting Panel 3/4” Fir Plywood stained
and varnished secured by six screws.
